How to get here

Approximately 2 miles north of Evie, on mainland Orkney. The roads around the Broch of Gurness are not suitable for coaches. Minibuses up to 22 seats can be accommodated.

Accessibility

Carers' tickets

Visitors with disabilities are charged standard admission rates (adult/concession/child). Proof of disability is not required. Up to two accompanying carers receive free entry per transaction.

Assistance dogs are permitted at all our sites and within roofed areas.

Parking

The car park is level gravel.

Toilets

Please note, there are no toilets at the Broch of Gurness. The nearest public toilets are at Evie Pier.

Approach to the site

The broch is 180m along a gravel path and through a kissing gate (the gap is approx 0.5m wide). 

What to expect at the site

There is a single step into the visitor centre. The site has uneven ground, which is mostly grass. The broch ruins have numerous steps and level changes. Some of the paths between buildings can be narrow. Visitors must also navigate a great deal of protruding archaeology.
