Carers' tickets
Visitors with disabilities are charged standard admission rates (adult/concession/child). Proof of disability is not required. Up to two accompanying carers receive free entry per transaction.
Assistance dogs are permitted at all our sites and within roofed areas.
Parking
The lay-by parking is surfaced with rough tarmac.
Approach to the site
Access to the site is over about 500m of rough uphill ground and over agricultural land. The path is reached from the lay-by up six narrow and uneven stone steps with a handrail to a narrow kissing gate. The route continues up a steep slope with 51 steps cut into the ground with a handrail. An uneven path then cuts across a field to another kissing gate. The field is used for grazing cattle and can be very muddy in wet weather. The final stretch to the visitor centre is a loose gravel path.
What to expect at the site
There are two steep steps into the visitor centre. Inside is a graphic interpretation of the site.
A large grassed area surrounds the monument, and the surface around the cairn is rough stone. The top of the cairn is reached via 14 stone steps (no handrail). Access to the cairn’s interior is down a metal ladder of 11 rungs.
Toilets
There are no toilets on site. The nearest adapted toilet is at Beecraigs Country Park in Linlithgow, EH49 6PL. This is 3.5 miles away.
