MacLellan's Castle

Carers tickets

In line with best practice in the visitor attractions industry, visitors with disabilities are treated on an equal basis with all other visitors and entry is charged at the appropriate admission category rate - Adult/Concession/Child. Proof of disability is not required.

We recognise that some disabled visitors may need help to visit our sites and we offer free entry for accompanying carers, these can be added when making your booking. Please note this is limited to two carers per transaction.

Free on-street parking is available near the castle. Visitors can be dropped at the site gates.

Approach to site

The visitor centre is around 50m from the site entrance along a smooth, hard surface. The castle entrance is then a further 50m.

The visitor centre and shop have step-free access.

The castle entrance has a stone door threshold.

The ground floor:

  • includes a reconstruction display in the kitchen
  • rooms get little natural light

Access to the first floor is up a staircase of 17 steps with a single handrail. There is a single stone step up into the great hall from the landing.

Nearest adapted toilet is 350m away at:

Harbour Square

Assistance dogs are permitted at all our sites and within roofed areas.

Visitors' dogs are allowed at MacLellan's Castle, but are not permitted in roofed areas.

Dogs must be kept on a lead at all times and not left unattended at any time. Owners must pick up after their dogs.
