Carers' tickets

Visitors with disabilities are charged standard admission rates (adult/concession/child). Proof of disability is not required. Up to two accompanying carers receive free entry per transaction.

Assistance dogs are permitted at all our sites and within roofed areas.

Parking

The main car park is level tarmac.

There is a smaller, gravel car park next to the visitor centre.

Approach to site

The site entrance is 80m from the main car park along a level gravel path.

Visitor centre

The visitor centre has step-free access. It is exited via four steps or a short ramp.

Monument

The castle is 75 metres from the visitor centre up a gravel path.

The ground floor is gravel and stone surfaced. There are numerous steps and the floor is generally uneven.

On the ground floor are the:

  • bakehouse

  • brewhouse

  • wine cellar

  • kitchen

The first floor, which includes the hall and gallery, is up a historic stone staircase of 14 steps.

Access to the viewing point on the battlements is via a stone spiral staircase of 19 steps.

Grounds

The west and east pleasances (pleasure grounds) are surfaced in grass.

There is an adapted toilet in the visitor centre.
