The mills are in the village of Stanley, approximately 8 miles north of Perth.

By bus and train

Bus services run regularly from Perth to Stanley, taking round 25 mins. The nearest bus stops to the mills are Murray Place or Stanley Cross, 0.5 miles away.

There are direct trains to Perth from across Scotland.

By bike

Stanley Mills is approximately 3 miles National Cycle Network 77 and a 9 mile cycle from Perth station. There is parking for up to 4 bicycles

Carers' tickets

Visitors with disabilities are charged standard admission rates (adult/concession/child). Proof of disability is not required. Up to two accompanying carers receive free entry per transaction.

Parking

The level tarmac car park in front of the visitor centre has an accessible bay.

Ear Defenders

A limited number of adult and children’s ear defenders are available at this site. Please ask a member of staff if you want to borrow them.

What to expect at the site

The shop and visitor centre are on the same level. Stanley Mills has five rooms which can be reached by lift. The top floor exhibition room can only reached using stairs.

In the Bell Mill:

The ‘200 years of cotton’ room is on the ground floor. It has uneven areas and eating is available. The tar room is in the basement. It is reached via a short, narrow corridor and a spiral staircase or lift. The archaeology room has a metal grid floor . From here, there is level access to the wheelpit walkway, which also has a metal grid floor.

The spinning room is on the first floor of the Bell Mill. It is accessed via two flights of spiral stairs or a lift. The floor has uneven areas. Seating is available. The artefact store, only open to the public on request or on open days, is on the second floor. It is reached by a spiral staircase or lift.

The terrace at the side of the Bell Mill is reached by a steep slope, which begins at the front of the visitor centre.

In the Mid Mill:

The interactive room is on the ground floor. It is reached through a doorway with a slight bump up. Its floor is concrete and relatively even. Seating is available.

The carding room is on the first floor. It is reached by two flights of stairs or a lift. This room has an even concrete floor and seating is available.

Toilets

There is an adapted toilet in the carding room and the interactive room.
