Parking

A small car park about 20 metres from the visitor centre has one accessible bay. There is a larger public car park next to Sweetheart Abbey, about 1/3 mile away.

Approach to the site

From the public car park, the site is about 250 metres along a tarmac pavement and across the main village road. There is a slight downward slope near the mill.

What to expect at the site

There is step-free access to the visitor centre from the rear of the mill. The main entrance has a low doorway and a section of uneven cobbles. An interpretive display is on the ground floor. The video presentation room is up a modern staircase of 14 steps with a handrail on one side.

The mill is a separate building, with a narrow door, reached via cobbled paths. Upper levels of the mill are reached by a steep, wooden historic staircase with rope handrails. The garden behind the mill has level access to the waterwheel. The main viewing area has three stone steps with no handrail.

Miller’s Field, part of the car park area, is uneven grassland with a fish pond and benches.

Access to the mill pond is via a steep stone staircase with a handrail on one side at one end of the mill building. Steps may be slippery when wet. An alternative route is via the road at the rear of the mill. This has a steep incline and is used by some heavy traffic.
