See this 18th-century water-powered mill spring to life to show how oatmeal was made.

The 18th-century mill is much more than a time capsule of the miller’s craft: it is sometimes still put to work to show how oatmeal is made.

Visitors can join a guided tour with out expert staff to find out how the mill worked, and hear the stories of some of the millers who have worked here over the years. You can admire the mill’s remarkable completeness, too. The buildings and machinery are just as the last miller left them more than 65 years ago.

A trip to New Abbey is an opportunity to take in the sights and sounds of a bygone age in a wonderful, picturesque setting. At the other end of this pretty village you can swap millers for monks and marvel at the romantic ruins of Sweetheart Abbey.
