Our sites sometimes need to close at short notice due to adverse weather, essential maintenance work, and other reasons outwith our control.
We advise checking ahead if the forecast is poor or you are making a long journey. Short-term closures are listed below. If you have an urgent enquiry related to a site closure and your booking over the weekend or a bank holiday please contact the ticketing team.
Dunblane Cathedral, Glasgow Cathedral and parts of Dunfermline Abbey and Palace are working churches and opening hours may vary due to private services and events. Please check their site information for details of these closures. Any closures due to weather and maintenance works will continue to be listed on this page.
Stirling Castle
The car park is closed to all vehicles except coaches and those requiring accessible parking. Please check the 'Plan your visit' tab for alternatives.
Restricted access Holyrood Park
The High Road is currently closed to motor traffic. Pedestrians and dismounted cyclists can still access the road
Closed Crookston Castle
The castle will be closed on Sunday 20 and Monday 21 September.

Restricted access Edinburgh Castle
The prisons are closed today (Tuesday 22 September). The Royal Scots Dragoon Guards Museum at the castle will also be closed Tuesday 22 and Wednesday 23 September for essential maintenance.

Closed Blackhouse, Arnol
The Blackhouse is currently closed for annual thatching, reopening on Tuesday 6 October.
Stanley Mills
The site will be opening at the later time of 10.30am on Sunday 27 September.

Access to grounds only Kildrummy Castle
The visitor reception and toilets will be closed on Wednesday 30 September but the castle will still be accessible.
