Check for closures
Our sites sometimes need to close at short notice due to adverse weather, essential maintenance work, and other reasons outwith our control.
We advise checking ahead if the forecast is poor or you are making a long journey. Short-term closures are listed below. If you have an urgent enquiry related to a site closure and your booking over the weekend or a bank holiday please contact the ticketing team.
Dunblane Cathedral, Glasgow Cathedral and parts of Dunfermline Abbey and Palace are working churches and opening hours may vary due to private services and events. Please check their site information for details of these closures. Any closures due to weather and maintenance works will continue to be listed on this page.
Stirling Castle
The car park is closed to all vehicles except coaches and those requiring accessible parking. This is to avoid congestion and disruption while local road closures are in place. Please use the Castleview Park and Ride service.
Restricted access Broch of Gurness
The visitor centre will be closed from 27 to 31 July, 3 to 4 August and 7 August. The rest of the site will remain accessible.
Conservation work Ravenscraig Castle
The castle will be closed from Monday 27 July until Monday 10 August
Bonawe Historic Iron Furnace
The buildings and visitor facilities will be closed from Wednesday 29 July to Thursday 6 August, with the exception of Monday 3 August when the site will be fully open. During closure periods, it will still be possible to explore the grounds.
Closed Smailholm Tower
The tower will be closed on Sunday 2 August.
Closed Blackhouse, Arnol
The Blackhouse will be closed on Monday 3 August.
Bonawe Historic Iron Furnace
Access to outside of monument only on Sunday 9 August.
Conservation work St Andrews Cathedral
St Rule's Tower will be closed from Monday 27 July until Monday 3 August.

Urquhart Castle
Grant's Tower basement and spiral staircase are closed until the end of August while essential maintenance is carried out. The Guardhouse may also be affected.
