Our sites sometimes need to close at short notice due to adverse weather, essential maintenance work, and other reasons outwith our control.
We advise checking ahead if the forecast is poor or you are making a long journey. Short-term closures are listed below. If you have an urgent enquiry related to a site closure and your booking over the weekend or a bank holiday please contact the ticketing team.
Dunblane Cathedral, Glasgow Cathedral and parts of Dunfermline Abbey and Palace are working churches and opening hours may vary due to private services and events. Please check their site information for details of these closures. Any closures due to weather and maintenance works will continue to be listed on this page.
Change to opening times Edinburgh Castle
The castle will close at the earlier time of 4pm on Sunday 12 July with last entry at 3pm.
Essential maintenance Caerlaverock Castle
The toilets will be closed on Tuesday 14 July due to essential maintenance. Porta loos will be available.

Closed Bonawe Historic Iron Furnace
The buildings and visitor facilities will be closed from Friday 10 to Tuesday 14 July but it will still be possible to explore the grounds.

On Thursday 16 July, the visitor centre and toilets at Arbroath Abbey will be closed between 1.30pm and 3pm.
