Step inside one of Scotland’s noblest medieval churches. A tower from the 1100s formed part of a later church dating to the 1200s. Sir Rowand Anderson restored the cathedral in the late 1800s.

What to see and do

Gaze up at the four‑storey red sandstone tower, the oldest part of the church dating back to the 1100s, before stepping inside to see the weathered interior walls of the nave, which stood without a roof for 300 years. Wander among the choir stalls from the 1400s—rare survivals and among the finest of their kind in Scotland, and marvel at the ornate Gothic western doorway, a grand and imposing processional entrance.
