Whithorn Priory and Museum

The Whithorn Priory nave is open all year round.

Whitehorn Museum opening times:

• 1 April to 31 October: Sunday to Friday, 10am to 4pm (last entry is at 3.30pm) 

• 1 November to 31 March: Closed

It is free to visit Whithorn Priory nave.

To visit the carved stone museum and crypts you'll need a ticket. Ticketing is managed by the Whithorn Trust. Prices for the combined ticket which gives access to the:

• Sculptured Stone Museum

• Whithorn Priory Crypts

• Whithorn Story Visitor Centre

• Iron Age Roundhouse Reconstruction

No pre-booking necessary. Tickets are available from the Whithorn Story visitor centre.

Historic Scotland members get free access to the Priory, Sculptured Stone Museum and Whithorn Story visitor centre, but must pay an additional fee to visit the Roundhouse. (£4.80 adults, £3.80 concession, £2.90 child)

The Historic Scotland members' retail discount does not apply at the Whithorn Story visitor centre.

Carers' tickets

Visitors with disabilities are charged standard admission rates (adult/concession/child). Proof of disability is not required. Up to two accompanying carers receive free entry per transaction.

Assistance dogs are permitted at all our sites and within roofed areas.

The level tarmac car park has a single accessible bay marked.

Wheelchair access

A manual wheelchair is available for visitor use on a first-come, first-served basis.

The castle is about 150m from the car park along a bound gravel path and over some grass. The visitor centre is accessed using a short ramp.

The visitor centre is about 150m from the car park along a bound gravel path and over some grass. The visitor centre is accessed using a short ramp and has an accessible toilet.

The castle's ground level includes the kitchen, bakehouse and cellars. The courtyard is cobbled. The tower house has a spiral staircase of 61 steps with no handrail.

The garden is about 120m from the visitor centre over a compacted stone path. There is a grass path through the garden.

The summer house has a spiral staircase of 23 steps with no handrail. A display of carved stones is in the basement, down a single step.
