Explore an Iron Age farmstead that is so well-preserved that archaeologists once believed it to be a medieval moated site.

Contrary to early archaeological belief, Rispain Camp is no medieval site. It’s not a former Roman fort either. Instead, this is something much older...

It's a fortified farmstead which belong to the Novantae tribe, first inhabited in the later centuries BC.

The earthworks of Rispain Camp are fascinating. Consisting of a double rampart and ditch, they're among the most impressive surviving traces of Iron Age Scotland.
