The best of Scottish food and drink

You can make a quick pit stop for Scottish snacks as you tour the castle, or you can treat yourself to a drink or a dram in an unforgettable setting. Afternoon tea at the castle is a real occasion.

The Redcoat Café is ideal for a light snack or hearty meal, with a seasonal menu offering soups, toasted deli sandwiches and more. Hot food is served daily from 11.30am to 3.30pm, while 'grab and go' options include baguettes, bloomer sandwiches and snack pots. This spot is  is officially great for families, having achieved the Kids in Musuems 'Family Cafe Standard'.

Our elegant Tea Room is located in the heart of the castle, Crown SquareThe menu features some of the very best produce Scotland has to offer, all served alongside breathtaking views over the city. Traditional afternoon tea here is always a best-seller. It's particularly popular as a gift for birthdays, anniversaries and other special occasions.

Shops at Edinburgh Castle

The Portcullis Shop next to the ticket office is our largest gift shop, with a huge range of souvenirs including exclusive Edinburgh Castle merchandise and Scottish crafts. There's something for all ages, from clan scarves and ties to teddies and toys.

The Whisky and Finest Food Shop is tucked away beside St Margaret's Chapel and is the perfect place for seeking out drams and delicacies. Its amazing whisky collection features our exclusive Edinburgh Castle 10-year-old single malt alongside special and rare bottles. Other products include fudge, shortbread, tablet and our award-winning Edinburgh Gin. Ask about our free tasting sessions.

The Crown Gift Shop is at the top of the castle and carried a hand-picked selection of extra-special items, including jewelry from leading Scottish designers. Many products are inspired by the castle and its past. Look out for our popular tapestries collection and pieces inspired by the Honours of Scotland. This is the perfect place to pick up a classy gift for any lover of Scotland.
