Contribute to our exhibition and tell us how historic sites have positively impacted your wellbeing.

Have you ever felt a wave of calm walking past Whithorn Priory, a rush of joy cycling around Smailholm Tower, or a moment of mindfulness sketching Dunstaffnage Castle? 

If you’ve visited a Historic Scotland site – see a full list of places in our care - and had an experience that has boosted your wellbeing, we’d love to hear from you. 

Browse our online exhibition to get inspired and to get ideas for what you can too can contribute. 

Guidelines

Send up to 3 photographs or videos (max. 60 seconds in length) making sure others can see what Historic Scotland site you've chosen.

There is no deadline for sharing your visual experience with us. The online crowdsourced exhibition will be on our website for up to five years. 

By contributing, you’ll help inspire others to explore Scotland’s heritage in a way that enhances their wellbeing too. If your submission is selected to be featured in our online exhibition it may also be shared on our social media channels - with full credit, of course!

Submission details

  • Image size: No more than 6MB, ideally between 150-300 pixels (JPEG, JPG, PNG format). 
  • Videos: No more than 20MB (MP4, MOV format). 
    Any drone/UAS footage at Historic Scotland sites must have prior consent and have followed our application process. 
    Your video can include a voice over or music, but please note that you can’t use copyrighted music.
  • Submission description: Please provide a title and brief description of each submission to tell us how this historic space has inspired, restored, or uplifted you. Maximum of 150 words for each submission. 

You can contribute to our online exhibition if you are over 18 years of age and a resident of the United Kingdom (Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, and England). 

Image consent

By submitting a photo or video as part of Historic Places, Breathing Spaces online exhibition, you are confirming that:

  • if you are identifiable in the submissions, you consent to its use as outlined in the Terms and Conditions (T&Cs) and Privacy Notice.
  • if other people are identifiable, you have obtained their full consent to share the submissions with us for the purposes stated in the Terms and Conditions and Privacy Notice.
  • if the submissions include identifiable children, you are their parent or legal guardian and are giving your consent for their image to be used as stated in the T&Cs and Privacy Notice.
  • we will remove submissions where a third party has advised us that they do not consent to being included in the submission, without reference to you.

Please only share content where everyone featured has given full and informed consent. We’re only able to publish content that meets these requirements.
