New visitor management measures at Edinburgh Castle

Visitors encouraged to book online in advance to get the best price and beat the queues

As part of ongoing plans to enhance the visitor experience and accessibility at Edinburgh Castle, a number of new visitor management measures will be introduced from Friday 30 March 2018.

To help visitors plan their trip to the castle in advance and to beat queues, a new advanced booking price is being introduced. This will help make sure that people avoid disappointment on days when the castle is particularly busy.

Category On site price Online Advance Booking
Adult £18.50 £17.00
Child £11.50 £10.20
Concession £15.00 £13.60

The site will continue to offer timed arrival slots, to better manage the flow of visitors throughout the day.

Nick Finnigan, Executive Manager of Edinburgh Castle, said: “As we continue to welcome record-breaking numbers of visitors to Edinburgh Castle, it is imperative we manage this increased footfall while continuing to offer a world-class experience for all of our visitors.

“We are encouraging visitors to beat the queues by booking in advance online to get the best price and also to guarantee entry at the time of their choice.

“As we gear up for another busy summer, we will also be improving visitor flow through capacity managed arrival time slots to better manage peak visitor times, as well as increasing numbers of staff on site.

“We look forward to welcoming visitors from across the globe to Scotland’s top paid-for attraction throughout the season.”
