Limited Edition 'Defender of the Nation' Whisky launched
Only 232 bottles made exclusive to Historic Scotland
A limited edition whisky celebrating the mighty fortress of Edinburgh Castle is available to purchase from stor.scot, Historic Scotland’s online shop, and in person at the Edinburgh Castle Whisky and Finest Food Shop.
The Defender of the Nation has been distilled at the Tamdhu Distillery in Speyside. The whisky matured for 17 years inside refill oak casks, before spending a final year resting in a 1st fill, medium char European oak Oloroso sherry hogshead, seasoned for 24 months.
With a run of only 232 bottles, the Single Malt Scotch Whisky has a delicate nose of golden syrup and soft vanilla, gently unfolding into deeper layers of rich sherry soaked oak. These notes harmonise with the warmth of its long maturation, culminating in a smooth, lingering finish that carries both sweetness and subtle spice.
Natasha Troitino, Head of Retail & Product Licensing said:
“The castle has been an iconic part of Edinburgh’s skyline for over a thousand years, and is a symbol of Scotland’s resilience and history. Just like the castle, the Defender of the Nation whisky is strong, nuanced and brimming with character. Available online exclusively on Historic Scotland’s online shop, treat yourself to a fantastic Scottish whisky and raise a glass to one of Scotland’s most enduring legends. Slainte!”
Defender of the Nation limited edition whisky can be purchased for £195 for 700ml, 58.2% alc./vol from stor.scot or the Edinburgh Castle Whisky and Finest Food Shop, please note that we only ship within the UK. Alcohol can only be purchased by a person aged 18 or over.
