Aberdour Castle is amongst the very oldest in the country. It's graceful terraced gardens are perfect for a gathering, and it's a short journey from Edinburgh.
Wedding photography
Whether it's a castle dominating an urban skyline or a dramatic ruin surrounded by mountains, lochs and glens, Historic Scotland sites are a go-to for anyone looking for a stunning shot of Scotland. Wedding photography is no exception!
You can use many of our properties as a backdrop to your wedding photographs, even if your ceremony will be held elsewhere.
The fee for any wedding photography booking is £160 including VAT.
Wedding photography bookings are accepted at all of our wedding venue sites except Edinburgh Castle. At sites where we offer ceremonies, photography-only bookings can be made only two months in advance.
When you make a wedding photography booking:
your wedding party of up to 15 people may enter the site at no extra charge
additional guests must pay the standard admission fee
the property will remain open to other visitors
you are in charge of arranging the photographer
Good to know
Types of ceremony
At the majority of sites we can offer humanist wedding ceremonies, civil weddings and civil partnerships (with the agreement of a Registrar) and religious ceremonies (with the agreement of your Celebrant).
Only religious wedding ceremonies can be held at St Margaret’s Chapel (Edinburgh Castle). Roman Catholic wedding ceremonies can’t be held at Rothesay or Edinburgh Castle.
Venue capacity
Each of our wedding properties lists the total capacity per available venue. This number is to include everyone in attendance: bridal party, minister, musicians and wedding guests.
Catering
Our catering partner will suggest a menu for your wedding reception. Wedding parties may not arrange an alternative caterer.
Public use of our properties
Our properties will remain open to daytime visitors while your wedding is in progress with no access to your ceremony and people will be asked to respect your privacy. Similarly, your special day shouldn’t cause inconvenience to other visitors.
