Two men walk hand in hand away from the stone gatehouse of a castle

Towering above the city on a volcanic rock, Stirling Castle is one of the most famous and significant historic places in Scotland. As well as being a symbol of strength, it's also been a place dedicated to fashion, luxury and good taste.

The castle is suitable for both large and small wedding ceremonies and receptions, from micro weddings up to dinner and receptions for 300 guests. You can read about the options available on this page.

Chapel Royal

Capacity: 240 people (ceremony), 200 people (reception)

A superb choice for wedding ceremonies and receptions, with a large stage ideally suited to a wedding band or other entertainment. You can host dinner in the Chapel Royal for a smaller group of guests or have your drinks reception here before dining in the Great Hall. The chapel is wheelchair accessible.

Great Hall

Capacity: 300 people (reception)

Round off a magical day with a reception in an enchanting setting. Scotland’s largest medieval banqueting hall has been beautifully restored to its 16th-century splendour. A raised dais area is perfect for top table seating or for dancing. Both the minstrels’ gallery and trumpeter’s loft offer extra space for entertainment. The hall is wheelchair accessible.

Royal Palace

Capacity: 150 people (drinks reception), 30 to 60 people (dinner and ceremony)

Once the childhood home of Mary, Queen of Scots, the Royal Palace has been restored to its Renaissance glory. Sumptuous interiors evoke the days of the 16th-century royal court, providing a stunning backdrop to arrival drinks or more intimate ceremonies and dinners.

Queen Anne Garden

Breathtaking views of the Stirlingshire countryside are to be had from the Queen Anne Garden close to the castle entrance. It lends itself equally well to a drinks reception or a Beat the Retreat performance at the end of an evening. Alternatively, it's a spectacular setting for an outdoor ceremony before dinner and dancing in one of the indoor spaces.
