In light of updated Scottish Government advice regarding Coronavirus we have taken the decision to close public access to our staffed properties and our events have been postponed until further notice. If you would like to keep up to date about our events please sign up to our newsletter.

'Literature in the Mills’ uncovers the literary activities of Victorian factory workers, as writers and readers, and shows how they used their writing to represent their experiences of working in a rapidly changing industry. It includes information about one of the Stanley Mills poets, James Ferguson, alongside other Scottish and Northern English writers.

The exhibition is funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council and is part of the ‘Piston, Pen & Press’ research project, led by the universities of Strathclyde and Manchester.

Please note that access to this exhibition is up a staircase.
