Holyrood Park

Come along on a guided walk to learn more about Arthur’s Seat’s turbulent past, created by fire and ice!

Find out about the people who lived and worked in the Park from seven thousand years ago up until the present day and learn more about the rare wildlife that makes the Park so special.

This event includes a moderate grade walk. The route contains rough tracks, uneven and boggy terrain, steep inclines and declines. Local roads and car parks may be subject to closures. Please contact the Ranger Service for more information.

  • Meeting place: Broad Pavement Car Park, Queen's Drive, EH8 8AZ. Meeting point is next to the entrance of the car park on the grass verge opposite the car park kiosk
  • Grade: Moderate. The route contains rough tracks, uneven and boggy terrain, steep inclines and declines
  • Route: Hunter's Bog/Volunteers' Walk/Camstane area. This may change. The route may not be suitable for disabled people
  • Age: This walk may not be suitable for children under 12 years
  • What to Bring: Warm, waterproof clothing and sturdy footwear with good grips. A snack and a drink
  • Toilets: are available at the Holyrood Park Education Centre (EH8 8HG). No toilets on the walk itself
  • Parking: Broad Pavement Car Park (off Queen's Drive, next to Holyrood Palace). Parking charges apply. Free for blue badge holders
  • Road closures: Holyrood Park roads are closed every Saturday and Sunday. Local roads and car parks may be subject to closures. Please contact the Ranger Service or call 0131 652 8150 for more information
  • Dogs are not permitted except assistance dogs
