Holyrood Park

Come along to a more challenging guided walk to learn about Arthur’s Seat’s turbulent past, created by fire and ice! 

Find out about the people who lived and worked in the Park from seven thousand years ago up until the present day and learn more about the rare wildlife that makes the Park so special. 

This is a strenuous walk and will involve steep inclines/declines and rough terrain.

  • Meeting place: Holyrood Park Information Centre, 2 Horse Wynd, Edinburgh, EH8 8AZ
  • Grade: Strenuous. Route contains rough tracks, uneven and boggy terrain, steep inclines and declines and may include an occasional scramble.
  • Route: Crags, Summit, Whinny Hill, Dry Dam, St Anthony's Chapel. This may change. The route may not be suitable for disabled people
  • Age: This walk may not be suitable for children under 12 years
  • What to Bring: Warm, waterproof clothing and sturdy footwear with good grips. A snack and a drink
  • Toilets: are available at the Holyrood Park Education Centre (EH8 8HG). No toilets on the walk itself
  • Parking: Broad Pavement Car Park
  • Road closures: Holyrood Park roads are closed every Saturday and Sunday. Local roads and car parks may be subject to closures. Please contact the Ranger Service or call 0131 652 8150 for more information
  • Dogs are not permitted except assistance dogs
