Melrose Abbey is suitable for:

Melrose Abbey was a place so beloved by Robert the Bruce that he chose it as the final resting place for his heart. Even as a ruin, this is a truly special place for a wedding ceremony. Large parts of the abbey’s graceful architecture dating from the 1300s remain standing – sweeping arches and charming sculpture work will preside over your big day by the River Tweed.

Presbytery (partially open air)

Capacity: 60 people seated + 40 standing, or 100 people standing

Marry amidst the romantic ruins of Melrose, in an area of the abbey that remains remarkably intact. The lavishly decorated stonework of the presbytery will frame you as you make your vows. You will be married under the ornate stone vaulted ceiling, with a backdrop of intricate window tracery, as guests watch from beneath open skies.

The Garth of the Cloister (open air)

Capacity: 100 people (standing)

Admire the fascinating sculpture on the exterior of the abbey from this large grassed area, just to the left of the presbytery. Views like these make for a very memorable outdoor wedding venue.
