Prices & times

Kisimul Castle is closed until further notice to allow for conservation works.

You can explore the visitor engagement centre at Castlebay Community Hall and you can also get closer to the castle by taking a short boat trip into Castlebay.

Admission prices

Free of charge, but numbers are limited and you must book in advance to guarantee access to a tour.

Boat tickets are on sale for up to two weeks prior sailing.  

Opening times

Visitor Engagement Area:
16 April to 12 September:
Wednesday to Saturday, 9.30am to 4.30pm.
Closed for lunch 12 noon to 1pm.

Boat Trips:
17 April to 12 September:
Thursday to Saturday, tours at 10.30am, 11.15am, 12 noon, 1.45pm, 2.30pm, 3.15pm and 4pm.
Please present your ticket to HES staff in Castlebay Hall 20 minutes before your sailing.

Kisimul Castle is not accessible. 

Visitor Engagement Area and boat trips, closed from 13 September to 15 April.

Adverse weather or other reasons beyond our control may cause closures/cancellations. We advise checking ahead if the forecast is poor or you are making a long journey. Current unexpected and short term closures.
