Cycling
The National Cycle Network Route 765 links Doune village to Dunblane via quiet streets and traffic-free paths. From Moray Park in Doune follow the timber signs for Doune Castle along the quiet Moray Street. Then turn left into Main Street. You will shortly see a brown Doune Castle sign and will be able to reach the monument via Castle Road.
There are 4 bike racks available at the castle which can accommodate up to 8 bicycles at a time.
Search for National Cycle Network routes on the Sustrans website.
Bus
The number 59 runs from Stirling and stops in Doune, taking approximately 30 minutes. It is then a 10 minute walk to the castle. Visit the First Bus website.
Train
There are trains into Stirling from Glasgow, Edinburgh and other stations. There are also trains to Dunblane from both Glasgow Queen Street and Edinburgh. Please refer to the ScotRail website for train times and routes.
Plan your journey by public transport using Traveline Scotland.
Park & Stride
The castle is only a 20-minute walk away from the Draggie Burn Park & Stride (postcode: FK16 6QJ) located on the northwestern edge of the Doune Ponds Nature Reserve, and this map and directions give two options to walk to the castle.
