Get a rare insight to Pictish life on this exceptionally well-preserved cross slab dating to around AD 600.

The red sandstone Dunfallandy Stone is one of the finest surviving Pictish cross-slabs.

There are several human figures carved into the stone, along with animals and beasts, possibly with symbolic or religious meaning.

The stone likely stands close to its original position, though it may have been moved slightly in the past to re-erect it.

A full view of the front of the Dunfallandy Pictish cross slab, displaying an ornate cross in relief surrounded by panels of intricate interlace patterns and animal figures. The stone is tall and rectangular with a prominent cross shape at the center, decorated with spiral and knotwork designs.
Close-up of the edge of the Dunfallandy Stone, showing two carved human figures standing one above the other, each wearing a tunic-like garment. Below them is a serpent-like creature, and to the left are intricate knotwork patterns.
Detail of a mounted rider carved on the Dunfallandy Stone, shown in profile on horseback. The rider appears to hold a circular shield, and the horse is depicted with simple, linear features.
