In light of updated Scottish Government advice regarding Coronavirus we have taken the decision to close public access to our staffed properties and our events have been postponed until further notice. If you would like to keep up to date about our events please sign up to our newsletter.
This residency will invite popular watercolourist Darren Woodhead to spend three weeks on the Banffshire coast. Darren’s colourful evocation of local wildlife, will be a celebration of the beauty of the region’s coast and rivers during the Year of Coasts and Waters.
The exhibition will be dynamic, growing as Darren creates new work. We envisage three install periods. At the start of the exhibition a selection of pre-existing work will be hung. A week later, the works created out in the field will be added in and the following week a final batch of new work will be installed. The second two sets of work will all have been created outdoors along the coast and rivers around Banff, creating unique art pieces that connect to the area’s natural heritage.
Works will be available for purchase, but will remain on display for the whole exhibition period.
The exhibition will be supported with ceramics by Pascale Rentsch, whose work is also inspired by nature and will provide an exciting 3D element to the display. Pascale’s ceramics are handmade, one off pieces that are inspired by paintings that she creates out in the Scottish countryside, sometimes incorporating natural material into her pieces to give a unique finish to her work.
