Walking & Wheeling

Aberdour Castle is just a 5-minute walk from the train station and nearby bus stops, including one conveniently located at Station Place, right by the station entrance. From the train station car park, you can either: walk to the main road and turn left to follow the drive to the castle, or turn left immediately, follow the path alongside the railway, and climb the steps - the castle entrance will be on your right.

The Fife Coastal Path passes through the village and the castle can easily be reached with a short detour from this route by continuing along the High Street.

Cycling

Aberdour is on National Cycle Route 76 which runs across the Firth of Forth. The route runs past the entrance to the castle. There are designated cycle racks on site which can accommodate up to 8 bicycles.

Bus

The castle is a 5-minute walk from the bus stop on Station Place which is located beside Aberdour train station. Direct Stagecoach bus service numbers 7 and 7A run regularly from Rosyth, Kirkcaldy and Dunfermline amongst others.

Train

The castle is also a 5-minute walk from Aberdour train station, which has direct services to Edinburgh city centre (ca.35 mins) and Perth. Refer to the ScotRail website for train times and routes.

Car

A small car park next to the visitor centre can be used by people with mobility needs. Please call 01383 860 519 to check availability. Some limited parking is available at Aberdour railway station, a 5-minute walk from the visitor centre.
