Applying for a job

Historic Environment Scotland welcomes applications from all nationalities and as such we ask that all applicants have the right to work in the UK.

If you require a VISA work in the UK, we ask that you ensure the conditions of your VISA, such as the expiry date, working hours etc. meet the criteria for the post you with to apply for.

If you are invited to an interview, you will be asked to bring all the original VISA documents with you so that we can do the appropriate checks and make copies. Please note that photocopies or scans will not be accepted.

If you do not hold the right to work in the UK and require Skilled Worker visa sponsorship, please list this on your application. Jobs that are eligible for the Skilled Worker visa will be noted on the job description.

Please take time to read the job description and the general information for applicants sheet carefully in order to ensure you are eligible and suitably qualified for the job.

If you apply online, you will receive an onscreen message confirming receipt of your application.

All advertised posts are done so in accordance and monitored by the Civil Service Recruitment Principles.

Shortlisting

Successful applicants will be short listed for interview. If you are short-listed we will email you with the interview details. You may be asked to prepare additional material for the interview. We will tell you what is required in advance of the interview date.

The Interview

Interviews are based on our competency framework. We will look for evidence from you to support your level of competence in the areas identified in the person specification.

Appointment

Appointments are confirmed by letter after all our pre-employment checks on references, health and security have been satisfactorily completed. This letter contains the terms and conditions of employment.
