Applying for a job

Historic Environment Scotland welcomes applications from all nationalities and as such we ask that all applicants have the right to work in the UK.

If you require a VISA work in the UK, we ask that you ensure the conditions of your VISA, such as the expiry date, working hours etc. meet the criteria for the post you with to apply for.

Proof of your current UK right to work status will be requested as part of our pre-employment checks.

Please take time to read the job description carefully in order to ensure you are eligible and suitably qualified for the job.

If you apply online, you will receive an onscreen message confirming receipt of your application.

Shortlisting

Successful applicants will be short-listed for interview. If you are short-listed we will email you with the interview details. You may be asked to prepare additional material for the interview. We will tell you what is required in advance of the interview date.

The Interview

Our interview questions are based on the Historic Environment Scotland competencies and behaviours which are most relevant to the role you are applying for. We will look for evidence from you to support your level of competence in the areas identified in the person specification.

To help you prepare, we will send the main questions to you in advance of your interview by email.

Offers of employment

Offers of employment are confirmed by letter after all our pre-employment checks on references, health and security have been satisfactorily completed. This letter contains the terms and conditions of employment.
