Historic Environment Scotland and Sniffer have developed a series of joint initiatives that will further develop and deepen their collaboration:
- Historic Environment Scotland Director of Finance, Donella Steel, is one of the founding members of Adaptation Scotland’s new Climate Finance Working Group contributing valuable knowledge and expertise and ensuring that Historic Environment Scotland are at the leading edge of progressing this important and growing agenda.
- Historic Environment Scotland Climate Scientist David Harkin is now working with Sniffer to develop a series of projects to support improved use and communication of climate information. David will focus on increasing understanding of climate information user needs and developing creative and engaging approaches to helping people connect with and use this information.
- Sniffer, through the Adaptation Scotland programme will work closely with HES as they apply the Adaptation Capability Framework across all directorates; learning from this work will be shared widely and will benefit organisations doing similar work across Scotland.
These new initiatives build on a wide range of existing work which includes Historic Environment Scotland’s long-standing commitment to championing the role of the historic environment in place-based adaptation across the country, including through the Edinburgh Adapts initiative.
