Holyrood's History Walk
Join a ranger to learn about Holyrood Park's rich and varied history, from its ancient past to royal status
Good to know
- Meeting point: Broad Pavement Car Park, next to the entrance of the car park on the grass verge opposite the car park kiosk (Queens Drive, Holyrood Park, Edinburgh EH8 8AZ)
- Route: Hunter’s Bog/Volunteers’ Walk/Camstane area. This may change.
- Grade: Moderate. May not suitable for disabled people - route contains rough tracks, uneven and boggy terrain, steep inclines and declines. Please contact the Ranger Service for more information.
- Age: This walk may not be suitable for children under 12 years
- Bring: Warm, waterproof clothing and sturdy footwear with good grips. A snack and a drink
- Toilets: Toilets are available at the Holyrood Park Education Centre (EH8 8HG). No toilets on the walk itself.
- Parking: Broad Pavement Car Park (off Queen's Drive, next to Holyrood Palace). Charges apply Mon-Fri, 8.30am to 5.30pm (except public holidays). Free for blue badge holders.
- Road Closures: Holyrood Park roads are closed every Saturday and Sunday. Local roads and car parks may be subject to closures
- Dogs are not permitted except assistance dogs
