Holyrood Poetry Hike
Hear poetry (some good, some bad, some McGonagall) inspired by the landscape of Holyrood Park and Arthur's Seat
Come along on a guided walk with a ranger around Holyrood Park to hear some poetry from the good, the bad and the McGonagall...all inspired by Arthur's Seat and its surrounding landscape
Good to know
- Meeting point: Broad Pavement Car Park, next to the entrance of the car park on the grass verge opposite the car park kiosk (Queen's Drive, Holyrood Park, Edinburgh EH8 8AZ)
- Route: Volunteers’ Walk, Parade Ground, Hunter’s Bog, St. Margaret’s Loch. This may change
- Grade: Moderate. The route is mostly flat, but the duration is 2 hours
- Age: this walk may not be suitable for children under 12 years
- Bring: warm/waterproof clothing, sturdy footwear with good grips, a snack and a drink
- Toilets: are available at the Holyrood Park Education Centre (EH8 8HG). No toilets on the walk itself
- Parking: Broad Pavement Car Park (off Queen's Drive, next to Holyrood Palace). Charges apply Mon-Fri, 8.30am to 5.30pm (except public holidays). Free for blue badge holders
- Road Closures: Holyrood Park roads are closed every Saturday and Sunday. Local roads and car parks may be subject to closures
- Disabled access: the route is not wheelchair accessible and does involve rough tracks and slopes. Please contact us if you have any access requirements and we will do our best to adapt the walk accordingly
- Dogs: are not permitted except assistance dogs
