Sunnybrae Cottage is a 1700s Highland home and a simple building with a complex history.

Sunnybrae Cottage tells a story of how ordinary people lived over some 200 years: what their rooms were like, how they kept warm and how they made a living here.

The cottage is one of the oldest buildings in Pitlochry, and has been subject to plenty of alterations and adaptations over the years. Its history reflects the prosperity and the development of this Highland town.

Sunnybrae Cottage viewed from the garden on a bright sunny day. The whitewashed stone walls contrast with a red corrugated metal roof, and the building has two chimneys at either end. A simple door and small windows line the front wall.

Small, dated kitchen at Sunnybrae Cottage with yellowed walls and a patterned linoleum floor. The space includes a white gas stove with an overhead extractor, a stainless steel sink, and a washing machine in the foreground. There is a single window above the sink. A bare lightbulb hangs from the ceiling.
