Admire the carving of a Pictish cross-slab, adorned with both Christian and pagan motifs.

St Orland’s Stone is a rare example of a Pictish cross-slab still standing in its original location. It’s unique in depicting a Pictish boat – the only known representation of a boat in early medieval sculpture in Scotland.

The stone stands on a low terrace overlooking what used to be wet ground. It was broken in two at some point, but its beauty and craftsmanship remains obvious.
