An opportunity to discover Edinburgh's volcano during your walk in Holyrood Park!

Learn about the 340 million year history of Arthur's seat, from tropical lagoons to volcanic eruptions and glacial erosion.

At this drop-in event, Scottish Geology Trust (SGT) geologists will interpret the landscape and explain the geology which creates this unique feature in the heart of the city.

  • *Age: *This walk may not be suitable for children under 12 years
  • *Grade: *Moderate
  • Route: Hunter’s Bog/Volunteers’ Walk/Camstane area. This may change.
  • Bring: Warm, waterproof clothing and sturdy footwear with good grips. A snack and a drink.
  • Toilets: available at the Holyrood Park Education Centre (EH8 8HG). No toilets on the walk itself.
  • Parking: Broad Pavement Car Park.
