Holyrood Park

Join a Ranger on a guided walk around Holyrood Park's High Road. Enjoy spectacular views and learn more about Holyrood's rich and varied geology, archaeology and history. We will also keep a look out for the many amazing plants and animals that can be seen on this historic route.

The route is over 3 miles long and contains some slopes including one long, steeper section. Surface is tarmacked pavement. For more information please contact the Ranger Service on 0131 652 8150 or rangers@hes.scot

  • Walk Grade: Moderate

  • Meeting Place: Holyrood Park Education Centre, EH8 8HG

  • What to Bring: Warm, waterproof clothing and sturdy footwear with good grips. A snack and a drink.

  • Toilets: Toilets are available at the Holyrood Park Education Centre (EH8 8HG). No toilets on the walk itself.

  • Dogs are not permitted except assistance dogs

  • Road Closures and 3rd party events: Holyrood Park Roads are closed to vehicles at weekends. Vehicular access to the Park via Holyrood Rood or Royal Mile/Horse Wynd/Abbeyhill.

  • Parking: Free Parking is usually available at the Broad Pavement Car Park in Holyrood Park. Please be aware that this car park can be closed due to external events.

  • There is the possibility of large events taking place in Holyrood Park or at the Scottish Parliament which could restrict access or cause delays getting to the meeting point.
