Moss Farm Road Stone Circle

  • West side of Arran

Overview

Visit a complex ring cairn with a high kerb, part of the rich archaeological landscape of Machrie Moor.

Although it has a substantial kerb of upright stones, Moss Farm Road Stone Circle is in fact a burial cairn. Sited at the beginning of the farm road which cuts through Machrie Moor, it is part of a fascinating prehistoric landscape consisting of stone circles, hut circles, standing stones and other cairns.

The cairn has been much disturbed since it was in use, and today its kerb consists only of seven large upright stones, with five more on their sides.
