Discover a pair of lonely standing stones that have marked the route over a desolate moor for some 4,000 years.
The Laggangairn Standing Stones are said to be the last remnants of a circle that may have once had 14 stones. The two remaining stones are carved with Christian crosses of a style ascribed to between AD 600 and 800.
We don’t know who raised the Laggangairn Standing Stones, or why. The name translates to ‘hollow of the cairns’ however, which may indicate there were once prehistoric burial mounds nearby.
