Climate Action Plan 2020-25

Cover of a document showing a leafy cliff face and a castle at sunset overlaid with a keystone shape and the words Climate Action Plan 2020 - 2025

Scotland has declared a climate emergency and our historic environment has unique potential to inspire climate action.

In this action plan for 2020-25, we have set out how we plan to transform the way we operate in response to the growing climate emergency. It builds on progress we have already made, but with a step-change increase in ambition and urgency.

The actions in our plan focus on:

  • how we will tackle the causes of the climate crisis and respond to the impacts
  • changes in the way we protect and operate some of Scotland’s most recognisable places and landmarks and the landscapes and infrastructure around them
  • sharing knowledge, building resilience, and investing in sustainability to support others to address the climate emergency
