Researching Historic Buildings

Do you want to find out more about the history of your house or another building? Here are some of the resources we use when researching buildings. Many of them are free; however, some will charge for their services.

One starting place is here at Historic Environment Scotland (HES). We curate the National Record of the Historic Environment (NRHE), part of the HES Archives held in Edinburgh. Our search room and library are open to all, and free to use.
