The European Union’s contribution to Scotland's historic environment

The European Union’s contribution to Scotland's historic environment

This report, commissioned by Historic Environment Scotland in 2017, identifies projects about or connected to heritage in Scotland that have received funding from the European Union (EU) from 2007-16. The report estimates at least £36.8 million has been awarded to over 280 historic environment projects during 2007-2016.

The publication aligns with similar reports for Creative Scotland and Museums Galleries Scotland. A report identifying projects about or connected to heritage in England that received funding from the EU between 2007 and 2016 was produced for Historic England.

As some projects are identified in two or more reports, the total level of EU funding for the culture and heritage sector is estimated to be over £59m, covering around 650 projects funded since 2007.
