People, Place and Landscape

A position statement from NatureScot and Historic Environment Scotland

A cover of a document showing two logos and rolling hills. The title reads "People, Place and Landscape".

Historic Environment Scotland and NatureScot (previously Scottish Natural Heritage) have statutory roles in the conservation, management and sustainable use of our landscapes. We both work to promote enjoyment and understanding of Scotland's landscapes and historic environment.

Our landscapes are changing and will continue to change. This statement sets out our approach, working towards a shared vision where all of our landscapes are vibrant, resilient, inspiring and beneficial.

The Action Plan accompanying the Position Statement has now been published. It sets out the main areas of work that both organisations have committed to starting over the next two years.
