Cover of Romantic Scotland

In April 2017, the Romantic Scotland exhibition opened at Nanjing Museum in Jiangsu Province in the People’s Republic of China. This report documents the reaction of the museum visitors in Nanjing to the paintings, photography and objects presented in Romantic Scotland. In addition, it explores how the representations of Scotland in the exhibition influenced perceptions about the nation and its rich cultural heritage. The international research team from the UK and China who undertook the research were led by Historic Environment Scotland, and funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council.
