Chemical Consolidants and Water Repellents for Sandstone

Cover page with two members of staff carrying out conservation work on a sandstone building

This report presents the findings of a 2-year project researching the use and effectiveness of consolidants and water repellents on Scottish sandstones.

The project aimed to research the effects of modern consolidants and water repellents on Scottish sandstones and their success in reducing the rate of stone decay and of consolidating existing decayed stone surfaces.
