Grave slab
The Latin inscription on this stone reads 'a prayer for the soul of Éogan'. Several grave slabs were found with similar inscriptions invoking prayers for the deceased in an enclosure close to St John's cross on Iona. This special location was probably reserved as a burial place for high ranking clergy.
