The sides of the barrel are bare wood and have 6 steel bands. Both end faces are painted white. One has black stencilled lettering: "BENMORE DISTILLERIES Ltd / 1983 / DALLAS DHU / 327 / 237 / REMNANT". A white plastic label with bar code and text "DALLAS DHU / 1983 / [bar code] / 027 1983 00000327 / CASK NUMBER 327" is attached to the other. In distillery terminology the word ’REMNANT’ on a cask indicates that it is only partially full because it was the last cask from a finite quantity of spirit. This cask was the last cask filled at Dallas Dhu, near Forres, Morrayshire, when the distillery closed in 1983.
