The countdown is on for another day of exhilarating horsemanship and impressive skills as the brave and courageous knights prepare to face each other in the field when Spectacular Jousting returns to Caerlaverock Castle on Saturday 30 and Sunday 31 July.
Spectators can take in the action, hearing the thundering of hooves and clashing of lances as the knights mount their horses and take to the main arena in the castle grounds for this spectacular, colourful show.
The fun packed event will also see visitors explore the sights and sounds of medieval life in the encampment by meeting the knights fresh from battle, visiting the horses in their stables and seeing falcons flying overhead.

Returning for the first time in two years, Spectacular Jousting is one of our best-loved family events. Visitors will feel as though they’ve been transported back to the Middle Ages under the backdrop of the picturesque Caerlaverock Castle.

The stunning Caerlaverock Castle, one of over 70 staffed Historic Scotland attractions managed by Historic Environment Scotland, is the epitome of a medieval stronghold, featuring a moat, twin-towered gatehouse and lofty battlements.
Spectacular Jousting takes place at Caerlaverock Castle from 11am to 4pm on Saturday 30 and Sunday 31 July, with the main jousts taking place at 12.30pm and 2.30pm. The castle grounds will be open from 10am for visitors to explore before the event begins at 11am.
Tickets cost £10 for adults, £8 for concessions, £6 for children (under 5s go free). Entry is free for Historic Scotland members. Tickets will be for the event only, there will be no access to the castle. We recommend booking in advance to guarantee entry.
