Good to know
- Visitors can use the level gravel car park of the Sumburgh Hotel.
- The site is down a steep 8m long ramp and 150m along a wide grass drive, which ends in a level gravel path.
- The paths around the site are gravel, and bound stone. There are level changes and protruding archaeological remains.
- Some of the Iron Age buildings have narrow (50cm) and low entrances.
- Access to the wheelhouse is down very uneven stone steps (no handrail).
- The top of the laird’s house is reached via a modern, metal spiral staircase (with handrail).
- There are no toilets on site.
- Nearest adapted toilet is at: Sumburgh Airport, ZE3 9UK
