Overview

This two-volume report documents desk and field based studies, carried out, mainly in 2023, to explore the use of Angus flagstone as a traditional roof covering.

Volume 1 - Literature Review and Case Studies

This volume comprises a literature review, case studies and comments on the status of this built heritage. It concludes with a discussion of the risks associated with the material.

Volume 2 - Audit of Known Examples

This volume presents the results of an audit, covering mainly the areas of Angus, Dundee, Fife and Perth & Kinross. It records the location and status of known remaining examples of flagstone-roofed buildings.
