Overview

Scotland currently has a number of historic buildings which are in poor condition and have an unclear future. In many cases, reduced availability of funding for individual projects and the wider priorities of building owners mean that full repair and re-use of buildings at risk may not be viable. 

Therefore, it is sometimes necessary to consider interim repairs which address key vulnerabilities in a structure, reducing damage and decay until a more comprehensive process can begin. 

This Refurbishment Case Study looks at the interim repairs conducted at Harlawhill House and how these repairs can inform the conservation approach for similar buildings.
