A study of the written evidence and historical background relating to Edinburgh Castle in the medieval period. 

The report analyses the documents and the findings within them in chronological order, with additional appendices on key periods and individuals in the Castle's medieval history.

Arkady Hodge was born in Edinburgh and educated at Oxford University, where he has also tutored and lectured. His work has appeared in various academic publications, and in his spare time he has written fictions under a pseudonym.
